Challenging the current escalation of violence, a group of Jews and Muslims in Tucson, Arizona is determined to create a tradition of peace and reconciliation.
Jews, Muslims & community members in Tucson come together annually to walk, to dialogue & to further mutual understanding as a path towards peace. We do this not just for ourselves but as a model for what is possible for all of us. We invite concerned individuals and community organizations to participate in the 10th Annual Jewish-Muslim PeaceWalk & Gathering.
Because its originating and ending locations alternate each year, the walk itself is the Jewish-Muslim or Muslim-Jewish PeaceWalk in alternate years.
During the PeaceWalk, hope starts with people of different backgrounds and perspectives in peaceful dialogue, fostering understanding, compassion, forgiveness, and reconciliation.
We invite all faith communities and all people to call out to peace in this way.
PeaceWalk was initiated by Rabbi Lynn Gottlieb (Fellowship of Reconciliation) and Imam Abdul Rauf Campos Marquetti, co-founders of the Muslim-Jewish Peace for Interfaith Solidarity, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. They came to Tucson in 2004 to lead the 1st Jewish-Muslim. Peace Walks are now held at a number of locations around the United States, and this year we will be celebrating our 10th Jewish-Muslim Peace Walk.
